Intensive Exposure Therapy for Panic and Phobias

CAMAT offers intensive, brave practice (exposure therapy) conducted over 8 consecutive days, specifically for the treatment of panic disorder or agoraphobia (for ages 12+), and specific phobias (ages 7-18) in youth. An example of this type of treatment with an adult may be found on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE5F-FjbTRk. Treatment is arranged on an individual basis at the discretion of our CAMAT Clinical Director and based on family and clinician availability.

Typically, intensive treatment begins with a screening call with our Clinical Director in which basic fit and eligibility are reviewed, as well as availability for treatment.

A follow-up interview to assess for clinical concerns that respond well to intensive exposure therapies in youth (including panic disorder, agoraphobia, and certain specific phobias) may then be scheduled. Please note: a fee will be charged for hourly time required to conduct the screening and assessment process.

If the Clinical Director approves scheduling of the intensive therapy week, in order to proceed with final scheduling of intensive exposure therapy, a pre-payment of 50% ($2500 of the $5000 full fee) must be received to proceed.

Intensive treatments generally follow the following treatment schedule.

Days 1-3 – 3 hours of therapy with your assigned clinician

Days 4-5 – Full-day therapist-assisted brave practice (exposure)

Days 6-7 – Family-assisted brave practice

Day 8 – 3 hours of therapy, planning for the future

We only use evidence-based CBT approaches for panic and phobias appropriate to the developmental level and symptoms of each child in this process.

Full fee for intensive treatment = $5000, plus the cost of additional assessment time per hour. 50% deposit is required and remaining $2500 balance is due on Day 1 of treatment or else family cannot proceed with treatment until the balance is paid. Families assume all costs of treatment, including any travel or other expenses involved in receipt of services at our University of Miami location. We do not accept any form of insurance for this service and all fees, including the 50% pre-payment, are non-refundable. Payment can be made here.
